Eugene “conquistador” Correa
Born in 04-22-1993 from Long Beach CA. Eugene Correa, is a local native being one of only 3 native fighters to ever get signed in the BIG league and go pro & The only one being in the Mex-American hispanic culture to ever reach Bellator and going pro from his city, As well only world champ from hometown to win a World title in the city of long beach.
Correa Has a background in Martial arts from as early as 9 years old. Growing up in a group home Five acres Altadena California , he participated in karate some months as well wrestled before snapping his right elbow-arm in half.. due to this Correa did not wrestle college and had only attended kickboxing with legends with little sparring known in his teen years that was introduced by master Machk “bear” at the age of 10 and master Oumry ban (Pradal SEREY) aka long beach kickboxing center since 1987 in the heart and rougher side of Long beach, Correa managed to stay discipline and attend his classes as well other sports like goalkeeping and weight lifting to stay out of trouble.
After Being affected from not living with his parents from 3-11 years old Eugene grew up on the GO.. from chicago to the ranch life in los altos de jalisco his father sent and owned for generations since the Mexican revolution although his father didn’t attend much of his life nor career support, Eugene grew up on the run some years getting away from abusive group homes/foster dads he was raised by a uncle in mexico and several counties in Los angeles. Through the tough streets of long beach, Martial arts helped him stay disciplined & at age 15. He trained American kickboxing under black belt Paul Hoch. Sayla & David Cooper’s gym Kickblast Long Beach a Gene lebel (affiliation). Quickly after high school he decided to switch gyms and trained boxing under Jorge at Hill Street Boxing. To sharpen his Muay Thai/Kun khemer skills Correa went to LB kickboxing center and learned under master Oumry Ban & Ron smith down the street where he grew up in the east of Long Beach and went to Chute Boxe U.S.A later in his teens fought in valetudo rank promotions although the gym was discontinued and a lot of false alerts on authenticy and manipulations politics on teaching, He quickly moved on leaving at a rank before black. He was later Invited and drafted to bodyshop.
For BJJ at just 18 years old he got to traine GI jiu jitsu from the jiu jitsu league (J2L) a student under Cleber Lucianos Academy which was later a head BJJ coach at Chute Boxe, other noticable coaches were Omar and Jason temple there but it wasn't until he met Rick Marshall who was a 10th planet blackbelt teaching a very different style of No GI Mexican American Jiu jitsu from the legend “eddie bravo” there that he fell in love with no GI back in 2014.
Technically there wasn't a 10th planet academy officially opened in Long Beach but it was at the 10th Planet school under construction that Correa met Felix Carrada, an Eddie Bravo blackbelt. Carrada then sponsored and trained Correa for 2 years in 2015. It was through Carrada that Correa was introduced to Chai Sirisute Jr., son of Master Ajarn Chai Sirisute founder of Muay Thai in USA. Correa trained under Chai Sirisute and when 10th Planet Long Beach school officially opened, Correa coached MMA there while learning jiu jitsu more. He received his blue belt for dedicating/competing another 2-3 years of the no GI jiu jitsu art strictly combining 4-5 years of no GI experience and 2-3 of GI/MMA prior to 10th planet, making lots of years higher level of training/competing mixed martial arts.
Eugene got signed by the worlds 2nd biggest MMA promotion Bellator thanks to former bellator light heavyweight champion Emanuel Newtown that introduced him to his new head MMA coach and UFC legend Antonio McKee back in 2015 as well. Training under McKee’s submission grappling system “Bodyshop MMA” with wrestling Correa improved his grappling and MMA all around. Correa has become a jiu jitsu/amateur champion in different promotions. Eugene currently competes still at the moment at a professional level resides in Long beach, He hopes to pass on some of his skills of "survival" in real life scenarios for authentic self defense Mixed martial arts for any age. With notable wins like Ike okoli and a strong win streak with record ending finishes, Correa’s next mission is to be in the UFC division 1 & be the first native from his city’s history to do so.
Correa has worked with elite Striking coaches some to name are jorge from hill street boxing, bodyshop and has participated in several seminars as well trained under wrestling olympian “rico chappareli” at his time living in Santa Monica as well has had a camp in Europe Matator, Spain for a cancelled match up back in 2015. To currently grappling with Jesse doyle alot of privates with Jon chow (10th planet orange) and High level well rounded training partner ex Glory contender Lance Dixon, the last current years.
