Biography
Eugene Correa Born in Long beach CA 04-22-1993 and being the second only pro fighter from the city as well first mexican american to do so in his hispanic culture from the city LB native. growing up correa has a background in Martial arts from as early as 9 years old. Growing up in a group home Five acres Altadena California , he participated in Kenpo karate that was introduced by master Machk βbearβ to help stay out of trouble from not living with his parents from 3-11 years old it helped him stay disciplined & at age 15. He trained American kickboxing under black belt Sayla Paul Hoch & David Cooperβs gym kickblast, gene lebel affiliated in Long Beach. Quickly after high school he decided to switch gyms and trained boxing under Jorge at Hill Street Boxing. To sharpen his kickboxing skills Correa went to Khmer kickboxing and learned under master Oumry Ban & ron in EAST Long Beach and went to Chute Boxe MMA for his Muay Thai and grappling/no gi jiu jitsu.
He Started training BJJ at the jiu jitsu league SIgnal hill under kevil howell some months then relocated for better mma growth trained under Jason Temple NO GI & GI jiu jitsu from Cleber Lucianos program in Chute Boxe but it wasn't until he met Rick Marshall who was a 10th planet blackbelt teaching no GI jiu jitsu to the MMA guys in chute boxe, that he fell in love with no GI back in 2014.
Technically there wasn't a 10th planet academy officially opened in Long Beach but it was at the 10th Planet school under construction that Correa met Felix Carrada, an Eddie Bravo blackbelt. Carrada then sponsored and trained Correa for 2 years in 2015. It was through Carrada that Correa was introduced to Chai Sirisute Jr., son of Master Ajarn Chai Sirisute founder of Muay Thai in USA. Correa trained under Chai Sirisute and when 10th Planet Long Beach school officially opened, Correa coached MMA there while learning jiu jitsu. He received his blue belt for dedicating/competing another 2-3 years of the no GI jiu jitsu art strictly combining 4-5 years of no GI experience and 6-7 of GI/MMA prior to 10th planet, making it an overall 10-11 years of training/competing mixed martial arts. Heβs currently promoted to purple belt under Renato magno and adam gordinier at street sports santa monica.
Eugene got signed by the worlds 2nd biggest MMA promotion Bellator. Training under Team bodyshop 7+ years With MMA/JIU JITSU /wrestling added to his career, Correa improved his grappling and MMA all around. Correa has become a NO GI jiu jitsu/amateur champion in different promotions. Eugene currently competes still at the moment at a professional level and hopes to pass on some of his skills of "survival" in real life scenarios for authentic self defense Mixed martial arts.
β Correa introduced MMA in 2011 in the northern region of jalisco and held a first ever introductory seminar in 2018 after becoming pro in a small town βsan diego de alejandriaβ mexico, where he once lived two years as a child, due to his parents relocating because of custody problems.
